A WINEMAKER'S NIGHTMARE: RAIN AT HARVEST (AUGUST 11, 2015)

You've all heard the saying, What's that got to do with the price of tea in China?

Well, here's a wine equivalent: What's the rain got to do with the Zibibbo grapes in Pantelleria?

The answer: A lot.

Yesterday and today, the island of Pantelleria -- located in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and Tunisia -- is seeing an unprecedented deluge of rainstorms. Which is not good for the grape harvest, to say the least. The impact on farmers and grape growers will be significant.

For a perspective from the ground, I spoke today with Peter Lambert, a veteran chef who moved with his family from New York to Pantelleria five years ago. Peter's been collecting reports from around the island, and he shares them with us on today's podcast.

Oh, and rumor has it that Peter's kitchen table is the best dining spot on the island. Listen through to the end to hear what he's cooking up tonight.

Save me a seat!
